“Bogie”, the development of Waiter Robot for Thailand’s ‘Beyond Horizon’ Super-Luxury Train

The Department of Robotics and AI Engineering has achieved a significant milestone with the development of a specialized waiter robot for ‘Beyond Horizon’, Thailand’s first prototype of a super-luxury train. This compact robot, measuring 40×40 cm, is engineered to adeptly serve food to passengers, ensuring smooth operation even while the train is in motion.

The development of this robot is a prime example of the department’s application of their research and solutions in mobile robotics and navigation. While the robot includes a touchscreen for operational management, the primary focus of this innovation lies in its sophisticated navigation and service capabilities.

Autonomous Intelligent Vehicle

This project involves constructing a prototype for an autonomous vehicle, specifically designed for use in clean rooms. It is being developed in collaboration with Seagate Technology (Thailand) and the Thai Research Fund.

The contributions of this project have been published in a journal article titled ‘Sensor Fusion of Light Detection and Ranging and iBeacon to Enhance the Accuracy of Autonomous Mobile Robots in Hard Disk Drive Clean Room Production Lines.’

Furthermore, an extension of this work has been published in a journal article entitled ‘Energy Prediction of Cleanroom-type Differential Drive Mobile Robot Based on Recurrent Neural Network.
